Director, Payments & Intelligent Financial Systems

Role Overview

We are seeking a Director with a strong financial and technical background to lead the integration and modernization of our global payment systems. This role sits at the intersection of finance, engineering, and AI innovation.

The Director will oversee a 12-person direct team, with an additional 8-person team as indirect reports, and will manage integration initiatives across payment platforms, FX infrastructure, digital currencies, and AI-driven automation. This role reports to the CTO and partners closely with the CFO and CBO.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable discussing SME-level financial workflows and overseeing deeply technical architecture decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end integration of payment systems across global markets
• Oversee architecture and operational design of payment rails, smart routing, and settlement systems
• Implement and scale GenAI-driven automation across payment operations and reconciliation workflows
• Drive FX infrastructure strategy, including cross-border settlement optimization
• Evaluate and integrate digital currency capabilities, including stablecoins and tokenized assets where relevant
• Manage departmental budget planning in coordination with CTO, CFO, and CBO
• Lead a 12-person team directly, mentoring technical and functional leads
• Oversee additional 8-person indirect team supporting payments operations
• Align payment technology strategy with overall company financial objectives
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks across jurisdictions

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years in financial systems, payment infrastructure, or fintech leadership
• Strong foundation in accounting, treasury, or financial operations
• Deep knowledge of payment networks (ACH, SEPA, SWIFT, card networks, RTP, etc.)
• Experience with FX operations and cross-border settlements
• Experience integrating digital currencies or blockchain-based payment solutions
• Proven track record leading technical integration initiatives
• Strong working knowledge of AI applications in finance, including GenAI automation
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical architecture
• Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with treasury management systems

Experience in EU and/or Latin American markets

Familiarity with PSD2, open banking, AML/KYC frameworks

Background in high-growth or scaling technology companies

Exposure to smart routing / smart sockets infrastructure
